¡De fábula…!

leadingtone:

Beethoven
Piano Concerto Nº. 3 in C minor, Op. 37
I. Allegro con brio
II. Largo
III. Rondo: Allegro

Alfred Brendel, piano

Anton Bruckner
Symphony Nº. 7 in E major
I. Allegro moderato
II. Adagio
III. Scherzo: Sehr schnell
IV. Finale: Bewegt, doch nicht schnell

Lucerne Festival Orchestra
Claudio Abbado, cond.

One of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen of both works. Brendel at the keyboard, Abbado on the podium, and is that Sabine Meyer on principal clarinet? I believe it is.

Bernardo Sassetti (1970-2012)

Today Bernardo Sassetti has left the world of the living. In a very sudden and chocking way, for me and many others. He had this quotation of a Poe’s poem, that I actually discovered a few days ago and that surely mirrors the feelings of his loved ones. Here it is, as a homage to a great musician, composer and pianist. His work remains so we can remember him.

“Take this kiss upon the brow!

And, in parting from you now,

Thus much let me avow-

You are not wrong, who deem

That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away

In a night, or in a day,

In a vision, or in none,

Is it therefore the less gone?

All that we see or seem

Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar

Of a surf-tormented shore,

And I hold within my hand

Grains of the golden sand-

How few! yet how they creep

Through my fingers to the deep,

While I weep- while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp

Them with a tighter clasp?

O God! can I not save

One from the pitiless wave?

Is all that we see or seem

But a dream within a dream?”

Edgar Alan Poe

Ingrid Michaelson // Somebody That I Used To Know (Gotye cover)

Holy shit.

| Wes Anderson’s movies are always musically rich. We can say the same about their trailers. I’m not sure if he was the director (I suspect so), but I like very much of the “Moonrise Kingdom” trailer soundtrack.
